CS First Date 2023

On August 26, 2023, second-year students from the Computer Science (English Program) at the School of Information Technology, KMUTT organized “CS First Date 2023” — a welcome activity designed to build positive connections among junior and senior students, while also encouraging communication in English through fun and engaging activities.

The event welcomed 55 first-year students, both Thai and international, along with over-more than 60 senior-upperclassmen students. All activities were conducted entirely in English to ensure inclusivity for international students, who currently make up a significant portion of the CS program.

🎯 Morning Activities
The day began with ice-breaking games and four interactive stations:

  • Wikipedia

  • Forbidden Words

  • Spaghetti Tower

  • Defuse the Bomb

These games emphasized teamwork and communication, with students divided into mixed “house teams” made up of both Thai and international members.

🎯 Afternoon Sharing Sessions
In the afternoon, upperclassmen shared their personal experiences in various areas:

  • Life in Thailand as an International Student (Nan Zun and Nay Che, CS#23)

  • How to Live in CS Happily (Papachanok, CS#23)

  • Internship Opportunities (Sitthichok, Phumjet – CS#21 & CS#22)

  • EL Track Experience (Apisith, CS#21)

  • Exchange Program in Finland (Thonnapon, CS#20 alumnus)

  • Working Part-Time as a Programmer (Phurichaya, CS#22)

  • IC2 Research Project Experience (KM, CS#23)

📱CSFD Web Application

The event concluded with the “CS Family Reveal” through a custom-built web application called “CSFD”, developed by second-year CS students. This tool included functions for matching mentor-mentee pairs, providing hints, and viewing brief profiles of Year 1–2 students.

Thanks to the strong collaboration between organizers and participants, the event successfully fostered a friendly atmosphere and valuable learning experiences — achieving its mission of building both community and confidence for new CS@SIT students.
