Welcoming New Students to the CS Family through “CS First Date”

     On August 16, 2020, second- to fourth-year students from the Computer Science (English Program), School of Information Technology (SIT), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), organized the annual orientation event “CS First Date” for the academic year 2020. The goal was to foster strong connections across all cohorts in the CS program and to help first-year students build confidence and communication skills.

     Due to social distancing restrictions, the event was conducted online via the Discord platform, with 48 first-year students participating. The program featured:

• Bonding Activities designed to create a welcoming atmosphere and introduce students to various facilities and resources provided by SIT.

• Recreational Activities that encouraged students to express themselves, practice leadership, and engage in creative problem-solving.

In addition, third- and fourth-year students hosted a sharing session to offer study tips, student life advice, and insights into activities within the school and university—helping newcomers feel more prepared and connected to the CS@SIT community.
