CS@SIT Students Win First Prize at Future of Food EntreCamp with Team “Eco Hatch”

“CS@SIT students joined the ‘Eco Hatch’ team to win the first prize at the Future of Food EntreCamp.”

The event, organized by Reactor School in partnership with Singapore Global Network, was held between 21-22 September 2024 at Thammasat University Rangsit Campus. It offered a unique opportunity for over a hundred students from Thai universities to engage with the industry leaders, work on problem statements and showcase their skills to shape the world’s future of food.  The Winner Team “Eco Hatch” consists of 4 members. They are :

    1. Kaung Myat Kyaw (KMUTT), Computer Science, School of Information Technology
    2. Ei Ei Phyo (KMUTT), Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering
    3. Aye Mya Aung (KMUTT), Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering
    4. Hnin Oo Lwin (Thammasat University), Global Studies and Social Entrepreneurship

The team’s idea was to transform naked corn cobs (the wast-product of corn) into crispy chips. The idea impressed the judges from different countries by showing how they can up-cycle the zero-valued waste into something sellable.  As part of the winning prize, the team will get a chance to attend SWITCH, Singapore Week of Innovation & Technology 2024, that will take place by the end of October.
