  1. Scholarship Conditions

1.1 Receiving a scholarship in the semester for which the application is submitted is not binding on the consideration of scholarships in subsequent semesters.

1.2 This scholarship is a support for the cost of credits only for the dissertation. It cannot be used to exempt the cost of credits for other subjects.

1.3 The period for consideration of granting scholarship shall be in the duration of the curriculum and shall not exceed the total number of credits in the dissertation subjects, such as 36 credits or 48 credits.

  1. Qualifications of Scholarship Applicants

2.1 Have a GPA. not less than 3.25 up to the time of application for a scholarship.

2.2 Must be certified by the research advisor by signing in the application form.

  1. Evaluation Criteria

3.1 Applicants must meet the basic qualifications.

3.2 Applicants can demonstrate that they have a research intention that is consistent with the objectives of the grant as specified.

3.3 Applicants must be a person who has not received any scholarship support from any source.

3.4 Applicants must have passed the thesis proposal examination or passed the progress report in the semester in which they registered their thesis in the current semester to request a credit exemption scholarship in the next semester.

3.5 The consideration of the scholarship is the sole right of the Research Promotion Scholarship Committee.

Scholarship Consideration Process
  1. Students submit an application for a research credit fees exemption scholarship (PhD) signed by the advisor to Miss Paweena Mongkolpongsiri from now until Sunday, May 25, 2025.
  2. The selection committee will conduct interviews with scholarship applicants on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
  3. The committee will recommends the dean’s approval of the scholarship.
  4. The list of scholarship recipients will be announced on June 6, 2025 or until approved by KMUTT.

Scholarships for Thesis Credit Fees Exemption for Master’s Students in Plan A

The scholarship for thesis credit fees exemption is aimed at supporting the research studies of Master’s degree students in all programs under Plan A. There are two types of scholarships:

    1. A scholarship for exemption of 3 thesis credit fees for students studying Plan A in the 3rd semester (2nd year, 1st semester)
    2. A scholarship for exemption of 9 thesis credit fees for students studying Plan A in the 4th semester (2nd year, 2nd semester)

Details

A: 3 Thesis Credit Fees Exemption

  •  A scholarship for the exemption of 3 thesis credit fees is granted to students who enroll for the first time in Plan A: Thesis in the Master’s program of the School of Information Technology.
    Students who receive this scholarship in the 3rd semester may apply for an extension in the 4th semester for a 9 thesis credit fees exemption, or as approved by the committee, to continue their studies in the thesis program.
  • If a student who has received a thesis credit fees exemption decides to switch to another study plan or Workshop during the semester, the student must submit a request to the School of Information Technology to withdraw from all thesis registrations covered by the scholarship. Additionally, the student will be required to pay any additional registration fees for the courses in the new study plan.

B: 9 Thesis Credit Fees Exemption

   A scholarship for the exemption of 9 thesis credit fees is granted to students who apply for the scholarship to study Plan A: Thesis in the Master’s program of the School of Information Technology in the 4th semester, or as approved by the committee.

Qualifications of Scholarship Applicants:

  • For the 3 Thesis Credit Fees Exemption
    1. Obtain a GPA. not less than 3.25.
    2. A master’s degree student at the School of Information Technology, KMUTT, beginning Plan A in the 3rd semester
    3. The student must obtain endorsement from the SIT’s advisor, as confirmed by the advisor’s signature on the application form.
  • For the 9 Thesis Credit Fees Exemption

    The student must be enrolled in the Master’s program under Plan A and have passed the thesis topic in the 3rd semester  in order to apply for the thesis credit fees exemption in the 4th semester

Leap Forward Doctoral Research Scholarship

About the Scholarship

To enhance the quality and quantity of research output, the School of Information Technology (SIT) has initiated the Leap Forward Research Scholarship, Phase 2 (2025-2026). The School of Information Technology, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), provides scholarships to graduate-level students both Thai and international who demonstrate high research potential. Scholars will receive close supervision from SIT’s advisors. The program offers 5 scholarships per year.

Scholarship Conditions

The scholarship covers full tuition for the 3-year duration of a doctoral program (starting from the first semester of enrollment) and includes living allowances as follows:

  1. Actual tuition fees as specified in each program.
  2. Credit fees necessary for program completion (as specified in the curriculum, up to the required credits).
  3. Living allowance support:
    • In the first year (2 semesters), a living allowance of 12,000 THB/month starting from the award date.
    • If the student passes the proposal defense, the living allowance increases to 14,000 THB/month starting the following month, continuing for up to 3 years.
    • If the proposal is not passed in the first year, but the advisor approves continued studies, the student will receive 12,000 THB/month until the program’s completion within 3 years.
  4. If the student fails to pass the proposal defense in the first year and the advisor decides against further attempts, the scholarship will be terminated, and the student must repay tuition and credit fees (interest-free). However, the student can continue their studies with personal funding.
  5. Financial support of 15,000 THB per publication, capped at 30,000 THB throughout the 3-year program.
  6. Scholarship recipients must publish at least one research article in an international journal (where the student is the first author) indexed in ISI or SCOPUS. The journal must rank Quartile 1 (Q1) or Quartile 2 (Q2) based on the latest Journal Citation Report (JCR) by Clarivate Analytics or Scimago Journal & Country Rank (SJR).
  7. Applications are open to both Thai and international students. Thai applicants require a guarantor, while international students can self-guarantee (if no other guarantor is available).

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants must be accepted into a doctoral program at the School of Information Technology.
  2. Applicants must have an advisor who is a School member of the School of Information Technology and approved by the SIT Research Support Committee.
  3. Applicants must meet the following GPA requirements:
    • A minimum GPA of 3.5 in their master’s degree, or
    • A minimum GPA of 3.25 in their bachelor’s degree.
  4. For applicants with a master’s degree, they must have published academic work in journals or presented at national/international conferences (with consideration given to publication quality).
  5. Master’s students upgrading to doctoral studies (via “upgrade” status) must:
    • Have graduated with honors, or
    • Be in the top 10% of their undergraduate class with strong academic performance and published research or conference presentations accepted by the National Science, Research, and Innovation Policy Council (NRCT) or equivalent.
  6. Applicants must be able to conduct full-time research during the scholarship period.
  7. Other considerations are subject to the discretion of the Dean with approval from the SIT Research Support Committee, whose decision is final.

Application Process

  • Apply for a graduate program at the School of Information Technology, KMUTT, through the regular admission process.
  • Submit a scholarship application form for the SIT Research Support Scholarship program.
  • The SIT Research Support Committee will evaluate the admission exam results and data from the scholarship application.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be notified to attend an interview with the committee.
  • The results will be submitted to school and university administrators for scholarship approval.
  • Final scholarship awardees will be announced.
  • Awardees of this scholarship program must sign a scholarship agreement.

1.   Title and Objectives

1.1 Title: Students’ Financial Support for Academic Publications

1.2 Objectives:

1.2.1 To support Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students in developing their research presentation skills and academic experience

1.2.2 To promote students’ academic potential

1.2.3 To facilitate academic exchange and cooperation between institutions and organizations at both national and international levels

2.   Details of Support

2.1 Applicants must be enrolled as students in bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral programs and be listed as co-authors of the accepted publication. In cases where multiple students are co-authors, only one scholarship will be awarded per publication.

2.2 The research must be accepted for publication at a national or an international academic conference that complies with the criteria outlined in the Office of the Higher Education Commission’s Announcement on the Criteria for Academic Position Appointments (2021), including joint conferences between higher education institutions and academic or professional associations as specified in Circular No. อว 0204.2/ว 6342 dated March 25, 2024.

2.3 The first author must be a student, followed by the academic advisor(s).

2.4 The paper must undergo a peer-review process involving at least three reviewers.

2.5 Recipients must submit a conference participation report and a copy of the published work after the event.

3.   Selection Assessment Criteria

3.1 The assessment will be based on applicant qualifications and the relevance of the academic work.

3.2 The approval results will be announced on the SIT’s website or other designated platforms.

4.   Budget

An annual budget of 500,000 THB is allocated to support student participation in academic conferences, both national and international, as follows:

4.1 Conference Registration Fees:

4.1.1 For a national or international academic conference held in Thailand: support for up to 2 presenters per research paper under KMUTT’s financial regulations    

4.1.2 For an international academic conference held outside of Thailand: support for 1 presenter per research paper under KMUTT’s financial regulations    

4.2 Travel and Accommodation:
     Academic conferences organized within Thailand up to 18,000 THB per research paper or academic conferences held internationally up to 30,000 THB per research paper, under KMUTT’s financial regulations.    

  1. Support Period:

The students’ financial support is available annually during each fiscal year.

  1. Terms and Conditions of Financial Support

    • Actual registration costs per paper will be reimbursed.

    • Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered as follows:

6.2.1 A maximum of 18,000 THB per accepted publication will be granted for participation in academic conferences organized within Thailand.

6.2.2 A maximum of 30,000 THB per accepted publication will be granted for participation in academic conferences held internationally (i.e., outside Thailand).

6.2.3 The support shall cover expenses incurred solely during the period of the academic presentation for all presenters listed in the schedule and must not exceed the allocated budget.

7.  Application Process

Applicants must complete an application form and submit the following documents:

    • A letter of acceptance from the academic conference, confirming a peer review by at least three reviewers

    • The accepted academic paper

    • Travel itinerary

    • Detailed expense breakdown for financial support (subject to reimbursement based on actual expenses and under university financial regulations)
