Philosophy
The Computer Science Program aims to produce graduates that will become national ethical leaders and practitioners in the many fields of technology and computer science.
Rationale
There are many reasons for producing more Computer Scientists. The following reasons are among the most important for our country.
- Computers and technology are integral to our national development plans, thus requiring a large number of qualified engineers and scientists to carry them out.
- The demands for computer science human resource personnel are increasing in both the public and private sector and will continue to increase as more computerized technology is being deployed, but the number of institutions that can produce such qualified graduates are limited.
- Our nation aims to become a major producer of technology in our region rather than simply being consumers.
- To be able to work and compete at the international level, scientists must be able to communicate in English, which has become the global language.
Objectives
- To produce graduates with a high standard so that they would be able to significantly contribute to the field of computer science both professionally and academically.
- To produce graduates with high ethical standards and leadership skills so that they would be proud and productive members of KMUTT and the nation.
- To develop computer science human resource personnel for both the public and private sector that would be able to apply computer technology effectively and efficiently.
- To encourage and support research and development in computer science and related fields that would be beneficial to the improvement of information technology and computer science itself, as well as society and the nation as a whole.
4. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (English Program)
The technology and computer industry continues to expand and develop rapidly. The benefits extend through all levels of society and all types of industries. The benefits of computer technology encompass every country including Thailand. The realization that computer technology is the driver for economic success and quality of life enhancement must be accepted. In Thailand, both private and public organizations support technology and computer development, especially, in the software industry. Thailand’s economical and social development. especially, in the software industry as a necessary part of its industry strategy.
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science a the School of Information Technology (SIT), KMUTT is taught in English by expert lecturers. It aims to produce IT professionals with the ability to develop software applications using modern technology, equipment, and software process. It also aims to produce professional programmers who are proficient English listening, speaking, reading, writing and demonstrate international communication skills. Moreover, the students develop their confidence and increase their experience during the internship program in the software development industry.
The graduates are able to work in local and international organizations. Many international companies. such as IBM Thailand Co., Ltd., Thomson Reuters (Thailand) Co.,Ltd., and Accenture (Thailand) Co., Ltd. employ SIT graduates. These companies offer graduates positions such as Computer programmers, System Analysts, Software Engineers, Software Quality Assurance, Database Administrator, and Computer Specialists and their technical and self confidence enables them to be use their skills when employees in global companies both in Thailand and aboard.
5. English Program in Computer Science
The Computer Science (English) is truly an English language program of study. Instrution is conducted in English by highly qualified Thai and foreign instructors with extensive international experience at both the Master and Ph.D. levels. The structure of the program is closely linked to professional standards issued by the ACM and IEEE. Students in the program study computer science while developing reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in English. Students become proficient in English as the medium of communication. The curriculum also aims to develop the attitudes, cultural awareness, and thinking skills that are necessary to work successfully in an international environment. Furthermore, the program lays a strong foundation fo those who interested in pursuing postgraduate studies aboard.

9. International Cooperation
SIT has a Memorandum of Agreement with universities in Europe and the USA encouraging student exchange programs (Please contact SIT for more information). Students, with satisfactory English skills and academic performance at the end of their sophomore year, can study during their junior or senior year at a participating university and the transfer the credits back to complete their degree program at SIT. However, the options differ for each university. Many exchange universities also provide scholarships for exchange students.
